Patrice Marchal

Patrice Marchal feels that nature is fragile, easily destroyed by man. Through his paintings, Marchal communicates a testament of his love of nature and his desire to preserve it.

Like the Impressionists before him, Marchal treats the grasses and flowers that he paints like abstract objects, which vary and change with different light and atmosphere. For Marchal, nature is part of his life. “To be renewed and inspired, I need to walk in the fields, witness the changing light, the softness of the air and the magnificent variety of colors and smells of the wildflowers.” Marchal translates what he experiences from his walks to the canvas with rich vibrant oils, allowing the completed work to speak of his experience to every viewer.

Marchal grew up in Africa, where the light was extremely intense. It was in Africa where he developed his respect of nature. He started drawing at a young age, and when he moved to France, he realized that he was destined to communicate and reveal his undying admiration of nature, through painting.

Patrice Marchal lives in the countryside outside Paris, France.
