Laura Rathe Fine Art, announces the Texas debut solo exhibition, Sign of a Mirage by Dylan Gebbia-Richards featuring new works by the 26-year-old Colorado based artist. LRFA is hosting an opening reception on Saturday, October 20th from 6-9pm at 2707 Colquitt St.
Gebbia-Richards paintings are a symphony of rich tones and densely layered texture. With the use of wax, pigment, and resin, Gebbia-Richards allows chance to define the direction of his work by creating landscapes exploding with color and dimension. From mountain ranges, molten rock, erupted volcano, vibrant coral reefs to cavernous rock formations, the artist’s sources of inspiration are evident.
The paintings expand beyond the canvas, transporting the viewer into another dimension that deems both familiar and otherworldly. Whether in a floor to ceiling installation or smaller sized canvas, his work sparks an experience of unparalleled proportion. Their undulating forms, prismatic pigments, and protruding texture captivate the senses and send the audience on a memorable adventure.
Recently selected as one of 20 contemporary artists, Gebbia-Richards participated in the exhibition The Beyond: Georgia O’Keeffe at the Crystal Bridges Museum. He has earned his place in the new generation of American artists working today. Through his innovative process, viewers are stimulated to experience Gebbia-Richards’ work in a way where one can hear colors and see sounds.
Sign of a Mirage will be on display through November 21st, 2018.
